April 14, 2010 - Neighborhood Kids' Garden is Growing

Thank you D'Allesandro's for sponsoring our "Spring Cleaning" on March 6, 2010! The flowers added to our flower bed look great, and the new 12 x 12 bed we installed on March 6th during the "Spring Cleaning" event has been a big hit with our neighborhood kids. The neighborhood kids who love to explore the garden now have their own area where they can dig, plant, water, and pick the fruits of their labor. The radishes are taking off and will be ready soon, we put in some cumbers and squash last week, and the green beans have spouted and will be running up the poles in no time! Billy also installed the sign painted by the kids on March 6th.

Gardeners, if you are out in the garden and see any of the little ones from the neighborhood who are interested in the garden, please show them this area and encourage them to explore! We will also be adding more signage to explain what the plants are, and which ones are ready to pick.
