March 30th - Lettuce!

The recent rain and warm weather have sprung the garden into Spring! The plantings from our Spring Cleaning Day on March 6th have taken root and are blooming beautifully, and many of the garden plots look fantastic, bulging with bumper crops of lettuce, spinach, and other tasty greens.

I've been to the garden a few times this week and it looks like the new Kids' Garden is going to be a big success. The neighborhood children are drawn to the garden and it is great to have a place to show them where they can water, weed, and plant. I watered and chatted with some kids this evening for about 30 minutes. They are very excited about the tiny strawberries forming on the plants they put in on March 6th.
